JUBILEE ISSUE Re-entries 1 Scott #50 ½¢ Black Printed from one plate of 100 (10 X 10) - Plate 9 Pages: ½¢ / 1¢ / 2¢ / 3¢ / 5¢ / 6¢ / 8¢ / 10¢ / 15¢ / 20¢ / 50¢ / $1 / $2 / $3 / $4 / $5 On this series of sixteen pages are some of the interesting re-entries to be found on the Diamond Jubilee Issue of 1897. Only six of these are catalogued at this time.
More and more re-entries on the Jubilees are coming to light after over 100 years of existence. Re-entries have now been found on almost every value, including possibly the 2¢ green. Reports of the latter are eagerly anticipated. These close-ups show the main identifying features. Many more details can be found on the stamps. |

Scott #50 Half Cent Black Re-entry 1 Plate Position Unknown This is the first re-entry I have seen on the ½¢ Jubilee. Numerous marks are found in POSTAGE, VRI, in and below the 1897, and around CENT. These markings seem typical of the re-entries found recently on the various values of the Jubilee Issue. I was able to find two of these within a short time of each other, proving constancy. Plate position has yet to be determined. Michael D. Smith has added a nice copy of this re-entry on a plate proof. Scroll down to below the close-ups of the issued stamp scans. |

Scott #50 Half Cent Black Re-entry 2 Plate Position 5 This stamp shows evidence of a major re-entry, possibly even a misplaced entry, throughout much of the design. Each of the six scans shown here contains some details of doubling. Harry Voss of Saskatoon has plated this re-entry as being from position #5, and has been seen in both a plate position proof, as well as a plate position block of the issued stamp. |
