Scott #65 Five Dollars Olive Green Re-entry Plate Position #10 Clear marks are found in the ‘P’ and ‘T’ of POSTAGE. There are also additional markings found in the central crown. The is the clearest re-entry I have seen to date on this high value Jubilee. Michael D. Smith has just acquired a beautiful used copy of this re-entry and a full scan of it can be seen to the right. Courtesy of Michael D. Smith Oct. 2010: Eastern Auctions Ltd has a right margin plate proof pair showing this re-entry on the right stamp, indicating that this re-entry is from the right column of the sheet of 50. A scan of the pair is shown, along with a close-up of the full stamp. Note that besides the markings in the 'P' & 'T' of POSTAGE, the diagonal slash between the 'E' & 'D' of FIVE DOLLARS is also constant. Courtesy of Eastern Auctions Ltd. A Thanks to Tony Maresch, I now know the plate positions of both re-entries on the $5 Jubilee! This one is from pp10, the right stamp in the second row on the sheet of 50. Scott #65 Five Dollars Olive Green Re-entry Plate Position #11 Clear marks of a re-entry are seen in ‘PO’ of POSTAGE, as well as the ‘IR’ of VIR. I have now seen two identical copies of this re-entry, so I am certain of its constancy. Thanks to Tony Maresch and his proof sheet of 50, now know the plate position of this re-entry. As you can see above, it is #11, the first stamp in the third row. Courtesy of R. Maresch & Son

Scott #65 Five Dollars Olive Green Re-entry Plate Position #8 I was recently contacted by Gilles Morel who included scans of a $5 Jubilee he had just acquired which included a very interesting mark in the 'O' of POSTAGE. I had not noted this during my examination of the proof sheet so I went back to the 1200dpi scan for another look. Lo and behold, there it was in position 8! I think the light colour of the proof sheet was responsible for me missing it, so I have increased the contrast on the $5 proof scans, making the details more visible. The shape of the mark in the 'O' clearly looks like that of a re-entry to me. Thanks, Gilles, for bringing this to my attention! Courtesy of Gilles Morel |

I have seen another $5 with a slight shift to the left, especially noticeable in the middle ‘A’ of CANADA and the ‘P’ of POSTAGE. All of FIVE DOLLARS is slightly doubled as well, especially the ‘V.’ I do not have a scan of this one, though. |
