Scott #109ii  1911

6¢ Prince Henry

Major Re-entry

Doubling is found in the bottoms of almost all of the letters of 'NEWFOUNDLAND POSTAGE,' mainly as fine lines and which may not show up very well here. There are marks found higher up in the 'E,' as well as doubling of the upper lines of the design.

Scott #109  1911

6¢ Prince Henry

Major Re-entry

Evidence of doubling is found mainly in the upper design lines above NEWFOUNDLAND POSTAGE, including extensions into the angled spaces below the UL & UR corner spandrels. Doubling is also seen inside the UR spandrel itself.

Scott #109 1911

6¢ Prince Henry

Major Re-entry

Doubling is found in the bottoms of almost all of the letters of 'NEWFOUNDLAND POSTAGE,' as well as doubling of the upper lines of the design.

Notice that this is a plate proof, similar to the next item below (*6), and it is also the top row that shows re-entering. The stamp to the right of this one is normal.

Re-entry

Another plate proof with a similar re-entry on this issue. It is obviously from the first row, but the exact position is still not known. There must have been some difficulties laying down this plate, particularly the top row.

9¢ Prince John

Major Re-entry

This plate must have been extensively reworked as almost every single copy of this stamp that I have seen shows some signs of re-entry, in particular, the top of the band of lettering. Some of these include doubling of parts of the lettering below and the framelines above. This is an especially clear example of the doubled band, with sharp doubling seen in some of the letters, followed by a few that are less strong..

9¢ Prince John

Major Re-entry

Here is a plate proof block of 4 with the top two stamps showing re-entries like all of those shown above. The one on the upper left stamp is obviously stronger than the one on the upper right, which is just barely visible here.

Interestingly, the bottom two stamps do not appear to be re-entered.

Scott #113

12¢ Duke of Connaught

Major Re-entry

Doubling is also found on numerous plate positions of this stamp. Many show doubling in and around the centre letters of NEWFOUNDLAND, as well as POSTAGE. This one also has strong doubling in and around POSTAGE, both numeral circles, as well as the top frameline.

This was formerly in the collection of Bill MacDonald.
