SEVEN CENTS Red Brown Scott #114

The 7¢ red brown is a beautiful, rich-looking stamp, with a number of nice varieties, including re-entries, marks in the 'V' of SEVEN, the 'N' of CENTS, as well as very interesting markings in the LNB. The latter are being studied by Leopold Beaudet of Ottawa.

7¢ Admiral Red Brown

Odd Diagonal Marks LL

Following all of the odd pairs of diagonal marks found in the left numeral box of the 3¢ Brown Admiral, I was surprised to come across this 7¢ Admiral with numerous pairs of similar diagonal markings in and around the left numeral box.

Their cause is yet unknown, but with so many plate positions exhibiting these markings, they very likely occurred on one of the reliefs on the transfer roll.
